Teaser: Budweiser Clydesdales "Lost Dog" Super Bowl Commercial--or at least a few seconds of it

Fans of the Budweiser Clydesdale Super Bowl commercials could celebrate a small step forward this afternoon as the St. Louis brewery released probably about nine seconds of the upcoming one-minute commercial for next weekend's actual ad.

It's still impossible to tell what the story is, but--as expected--the puppy really is lost and he also really is the star of the commercial. But perhaps the big drama and big action of the spot comes when his best pal Clydesdale starts acting up (on cue of the trainer, of course) as actor Don Jeanes holds onto the leadline.

You can almost see him lifted off the ground by the big horse's head.

And Don even gives the big gelding that famous bro-love hug we saw at the end of the "Brotherhood" Super Bowl commercial in 2013.

But will it work this time?

Budweiser released these clips as animated gif files via a media server today. The full commercial will be available next week.

Be sure to read my interview with Don Jeanes on The Jurga Report (my "other" blog") and learn more insider information about the star of the three Clydesdale commercials and hints about the commercial's production.

Here's a gem for you from that interview: it turns out that the puppies last year and this year are not Golden Retrievers, as assumed, but Yellow Labrador Retrievers. Cousins, to be sure, but interesting, no less.

The Hoof Blog will post the full commercial here as soon as Budweiser releases it. I expect that will be sometime next week. If you are signed up for the email headlines from The Hoof Blog, you won't miss it. Send an email if you'd like your address added, or use the little sign up tool at the top right of the sidebar, if you are reading this on a computer rather than a mobile device.

If you think these clips are too much dog and not enough horse, you'll love my plea to Budweiser,  Budweiser Clydesdales "Lost Dog" Super Bowl Commercial: Stock Up on Beer and Tissues, a.k.a. "Gone to the Dogs".

But we're happy just to have them back, right? Right!
